The Grudge
(Zak,hannah and Vans group)
The opening of the film starts off with drops of blod, this is an convections on a horror film, as it carrys the Film companys name comes up and again the drops of blood come onto the screen.
It then switches to a red background, this is common in horror films, it shows the genre if the film clearly. The charactors and actors names then come up, we then go into a flashback, which is in black and white. this can show that it is flashback to the olden days. it then does quick cuts to the credits everything in the opening is quick making a climax.
This climax the carrys on as we go into a fight scene, untill the girl has been killed in a grusom way. This is showing the story of which the horro film has been based on.As the fight scene is going on we see a little boy, and then we see he scene from the boys vei looking down from the starirs, we then see a point of veiw shot from the victms (the girls) perspective. the violence then carrys on and we see a cat being killed, this will make the audience on edge as they dont know what the killer will do next.We then see a close up of the dead girl on the loor in black and white which makes the film seem dated, but in this shot wecant see the little boy on the stairs. we then have a equilibrum back to present day, we have an establishing shot of the scene where the girl was killed in black and white. We then have a brids eye of the house, it then quickly goes into the house and we have the same veiw point from the boy on the stairs again.
We then have a low angle shot up the stairs, and the girl is slowly crawling down the stairs in the position in which she died in, with her hair over her face, which becomes a motif throught out the film. Once she is half way down the stairs everything reverses to the begging to start the film.
Nightmare on elm street
(Emily, Flyn, Emma, Max)
It starts with the production titles, the main colours are red and black, his could represent death. We then have a black screen preparing the adience for the film to start, a small screen in the middel this ould be so that the audience has to focuse more on it. we then have a zoom of a building, it has alotof pipes and things that the audience might think are scary. The directors name is then shown, and then the title of the film appears, all the letteres are in red and all diffrent shapes, the font is also creep making the audience feels and onedge beacuse all the letters aren't the same size.We then have a extreme zoom into the girls face, we can only see half of it as there is a shadw on the other half of it. There is then a slow zoom in behind the girl as if there is someone watching her and comming up behind her. we then hear the ratterling of chain which could represent being trapped, we then see the setting of the scene we have a extra long shot which shows that it is hard to escape. we then hear someone laughing in the background, which could make the audience feel scared for the littel girl as they can hear someone but not see them. The camera is still following behind the girl as if someone is following her and watching her every move.
We then have a quick shot of someone scratching through a curtain with their nails, this could make the audience cringe beacuse of the noise. The girl is then trapped with no where to go making the audience tense and scared for the girl as they dont know whats going to happen to her. Then suddenly we change scenes into a bedroom, as if the girl has just woke up from a bad dream, we hink of the bedroom as a safe place. this is also a equilibrium, but then we find out that her dreses is still cut from the dream making the audience confused to think was it all really? or is her dream becoming true?
This hooks the audience making them wanting to watch the rest of the film to see what happens.
